HDFC ERGO General Insurance Appoints Parthanil Ghosh as MD & CEO
The board of HDFC ERGO General Insurance has approved the appointment of Parthanil Ghosh as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), effective April 16, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
He will succeed Anuj Tyagi, who currently leads the general insurance company as MD & CEO.
Anuj Tyagi had earlier submitted his resignation on January 16, 2026, stating his intention to step down from the role to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities. His tenure saw the company strengthen its presence in India’s competitive general insurance market and expand its product offerings and customer reach.
Long Association with the Company
Parthanil has been associated with the organisation since 2016, when he joined following the merger with L&T General Insurance. Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions and played a significant role in strengthening the company’s operational and strategic initiatives.
Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the company, a position he assumed on May 1, 2025. During his tenure, Ghosh contributed to enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening distribution channels, and driving customer-focused initiatives within the organisation. His deep understanding of the company’s operations and the broader insurance ecosystem is expected to support a smooth leadership transition.
Extensive Industry Experience
With over three decades of professional experience in financial services and insurance, Ghosh brings significant expertise to the role. He has more than 16 years of experience across the entire value chain of the general insurance industry, covering areas such as underwriting, distribution, risk management, and strategy.
Commenting on the appointment, Keki M Mistry, Chairman of the board at HDFC ERGO General Insurance, said that Ghosh brings extensive industry knowledge, deep operational insight, and strong strategic leadership to the role. He added that the board is confident Ghosh will build on the company’s success and guide it toward its next phase of growth and innovation in the general insurance sector.
